Houston’s Texas Medical Center (TMC) is the largest medical city in the world, bringing together hospitals, research facilities, laboratories, and medical schools that serve millions of patients each year. TMC is a massive campus made up of more than 60 institutions, including research and lab facilities, treatment centers, and medical schools. These organizations provide leading-edge care across many medical disciplines.
More than 120,000 staff members work across the campus, and more than nine million patients visit each year.
Many major TMC hospitals and treatment clinics operate satellite centers around Houston. These locations can help local patients receive limited treatments closer to home, although transportation and access may still be challenges for some patients.
TMC functions like a city within the city, with its own newspaper, religious amenities, security services, and complimentary shuttle service. The shuttle helps patients, caregivers, and staff move between hospitals and medical facilities across the campus.

There are a number of MedFlight organizations and Corporate Flight services we partner with. Ground Angel volunteers get the Patients to and from local airports. Patients must contact the angel flight groups direct – their contact information is HERE.
American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society offers a great deal of information and can refer you to other resources. ACS closed their local ride services in 2020 and have not restarted – now they refer Patients to Houston Ground Angels. Visit their website, American Cancer Society.
Texas Oncology Foundation
Texas Oncology Foundation’s mission is to support cancer patients and their families across Texas where they live, work, and receive treatment. Providing financial assistance, support and survivorship groups, wellness programs and connections for patient and caregiver education. LINK to the Texas Oncology Foundation website
M D Anderson Support Groups
Within the MDAnderson group of hospitals and clinics there are many counselling and support groups. These provide a time and space for patients and family members to discuss feelings, concerns, and attitudes in a caring atmosphere. You can connect to these support groups via this link.

Prolonged use of pain medications can potentially lead to addiction. It’s important for doctors and patients to maintain open and honest communication throughout the treatment process in order to manage pain properly and prevent addiction.
